On 8/28/2014, Philly's own Voss (BET 106 & Park Freestyle Friday Hall of Famer) put together one of the best hip-hop shows in recent memory in the area at Underground Arts on 12th & Callowhill. Openers included Sinistah K, CJ & Evan, Rob Diioia and LTC.
Backed by a 6 piece band featuring members of The Jawn, Voss rocked thru an hour long set for a packed house. The ensemble rifled thru his catalog, doing many songs off the first two installments of the "Book Of Michael" EP series, to fan favorite singles, multiple collabs and even a couple covers.
This documentary/show video filmed by Wayne Campbell (BWE Studios) depicts all of the work going into the show from rehearsal to the chaotic moments backstage leading up to the set, as well as comprehensive footage of Voss' set itself.
Being a headlining artist organizing a 6 piece band for multiple rehearsals of a 60 minute set is enough stress as is; booking and organizing a show entirely yourself (selecting openers, printing/posting fliers, online promo, getting sponsors, selling tickets, etc) just made the payoff afterwards all the more sweeter.
